CDG Airport to Paris: RER B, Buses, Taxis and the CDGVAL
Charles de Gaulle lies about 25 km northeast of central Paris, and for most travellers the RER B from one of the airport’s two stations is the fastest and most predictable way in. Here is how the options compare, and how to reach each hotel in this guide.
RER B to Gare du Nord and beyond
The RER B is the workhorse: from Terminal 2 or Roissypole it reaches Gare du Nord in about 30 minutes, continuing to Châtelet-Les Halles, Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, Luxembourg and Denfert-Rochereau, with connections to most of the Métro network. Trains run every 10 to 20 minutes, from about 04:50 to shortly after midnight in each direction.
The airport fare is 14 euros; standard Île-de-France tickets do not cover the airport stations, but Navigo weekly and monthly passes do. Buy from the Île-de-France Mobilités app, station machines or staffed counters, and keep your ticket for the exit gates. Buses: the Express 9517 and the slow-but-cheap pair
The famous Roissybus to Opéra was withdrawn on 1 March 2026. Its successor is the Express 9517, which runs from the airport to the Saint-Denis Pleyel interchange for Métro 14 and the Grand Paris Express network. It is included in Navigo passes and costs about 2.55 euros bought on board, making it the cheapest quick route into the network when the RER B is disrupted.
Two ordinary bus lines also link the airport with the city for the price of a standard bus ticket: the 350 towards Porte de la Chapelle and the 351 towards Nation. Both take well over an hour, but for a light-luggage traveller on a budget they are unbeatable.
Overnight, when the RER B and CDGVAL stop, the Noctilien night buses N140 and N143 run between the airport and Gare de l’Est, the N143 taking about 55 minutes and the N140, via a longer routing, about 80.
Taxis
Taxis from CDG into Paris run on fixed fares set by decree: 56 euros to the Right Bank and 65 euros to the Left Bank, covering all passengers and luggage, day and night. Use only the signposted official taxi ranks; anyone offering a ride inside the terminal is not a licensed taxi. Journey time is usually 35 to 60 minutes depending on traffic, and can be considerably longer at peak times.
The CDGVAL and getting around the airport
Within the airport, the free CDGVAL automatic shuttle links Terminal 1, the car parks, Roissypole (Terminal 3 and the RER station) and Terminal 2, running every few minutes from about 04:00 to 01:00.
